Choosing a college major is an overwhelming choice for many students. That's ok-- no one really expects you to know what you want to do with your whole life before you're old enough to vote, or buy a drink, or sign legally binding documents. However, choosing some sort of major on your college application can help schools understand who you are, as a person and as a student. Even with a declared major, lots of prestigious colleges and universities require all students to wait until Sophomore year before committing to their major of choice. Tufts University admission counselor Meghan McHale Dangremond explains why.
